Poor sales and delays don't bode well for Ubisoft.
In an investor call today,
Ubisoft outlined release windows for its most anticipated titles, including
Splinter Cell: Conviction and Red Steel 2, both slated for early next year (between January and April). Ghost Recon 4 is also supposed to ship in the first quarter of 2010, with first-person adventure game
I Am Alive dropping shortly after.
Financially, Ubisoft reported a 50 percent drop in sales for the first quarter of 2009-10, due to "a very sharp slowdown in our sales for Nintendo DS as well as sales of back-catalog titles, in the context of a market that is tougher than anticipated."
Tyler says: Ubisoft, stop attaching release dates to Splinter Cell: Conviction, please. I feel like you're jinxing the game, and we may never see it released if you keep this up. Seriously, how many times have we been told this game is coming out only to have it later delayed? I'm as excited as the next guy for Conviction, but I'm at the point where I don't want to hear anything more about the game other than, "it's on store shelves now."
