It looks like last week's free Xbox Live Gold pass was a resounding success for Microsoft. In seven days 5 million downloads were made by 1.5 million users logged on to Microsoft's online service. The top download for the week was the Halo 3 announcement trailer. Coming in second was the Lost Planet demo, and the Test Drive Unlimited demo came in third.

New content for Xbox 360 games is steadily flowing in from Xbox Live. The latest addition is the "Collateral Damage" multiplayer map pack for the WWII squad-based shooter The Outfit. The pack includes 3 new maps and will cost 500 Microsoft Points to download. The maps are named Luftwaffe Finale, Bleak Mile, and Eagle's Nest.

The week of E3 was also a boost for the official Xbox site at ww.Xbox.com, which received 6 million unique visitors. The true measure of success will be seeing how many people who logged on for the week of free Live will pay to stay connected.
