The biggest revelation regarding Ace Combat 6 came after our demo, however. We asked about the possibility of a flight stick peripheral in the vein of Ace Combat 5's, and no one could confirm or deny it. However, later in the evening, Namco-Bandai debuted the Ace Edge flight stick. Manufactured by Hori, the Ace Edge will be available solely in a bundle with Ace Combat 6 and will feature a custom AC6 faceplate for ninety bucks more than the standalone game.
The introductory time we spent with Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation was remarkably brief, but we're glad to have gotten a glimpse at what Namco-Bandai has in store for the franchise. While we're not the greatest at actually playing the game, we're glad to see that the refinements to the series, such as the new radar, are being implemented. We're hoping that as the time counts down to E3 next month in Santa Monica, we'll get a better idea of how the game will flow and function, and more hands-on time with it than a five-minute demo. Naturally, however, we're most excited about the implementation of online multiplayer over Xbox Live. While the publisher is being tight-lipped about the majority of details, we're looking forward to finding out more as E3 draws closer.
