Former Infinity Ward staffers Jason West and Vince Zampella have been the talk of the gaming town this week. Monday saw the erstwhile Infinity Ward heads fired from their jobs by Activision over accusations of insubordination, and it appears the two are not going to take this lying down. Apparently both West and Zampella were only a matter of weeks away from being owed royalties pertaining to the massive success of IW's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. A statement issued by their lawyers says:
"Instead of thanking, lauding, or just plain paying Jason and Vince for giving Activision the most successful entertainment product ever offered to the public, last month Activision hired lawyers to conduct a pretextual 'investigation' into unstated and unsubstantiated charges of 'insubordination' and 'breach of fiduciary duty,' which then became the grounds for their termination on Monday, March 1st."

"We were shocked by Activision's decision to terminate our contract," said West. "We poured our heart and soul into that company, building not only a world class development studio, but assembling a team we've been proud to work with for nearly a decade. We think the work we've done speaks for itself."
Modern Warfare 2 has so far generated more than $3 billion in sales and it remains to be seen if Activision can counter this suit. More as it happens.

Gimme my two dollars...

Bryn says: It's so hard to know who's blagging who in these situations. My heart tells me that no matter what went down between West, Zampella and Activision, those two guys should see a taste of what is rightfully theirs. It'll be interesting to see if this matter gets settled quietly, out of court, or loudly and noisily in the public eye.
