Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 fans get stimulated today. The Stimulus Package is now available for download on the Xbox 360, bringing with it a five additional maps and a full packet of Modern Warfare 2 news. Unfortunately, at the top of that list is a flood of gamer reports that the new maps aren't loading properly.

Xbox Live's Director of Programming Larry "Major Nelson" Hyrb confirmed the problem with a Twitter post: "The Stimulus Package needs a Title Update and it didn't go out properly. We're pushing it out now - it won't be long."

It's an unfortunate kick off to the Stimulus Package, particularly given its $15 price tag, but Infinity Ward made an announcement today that could help appease disgruntled Mapathy sufferers once the new content is available: the Modern Warfare 2 Double XP weekend kicks off well before the weekend begins.

Modern Warfare's Community Manager Robert Bowling announced on his blog the Double XP event kicks off today with the launch of the Stimulus Package. The event will run through Sunday, giving gamers plenty of time to shoot for another level of Prestige.

In addition, the Stimulus Package will bring with it a few tweaks. From Bowling: "Included in this update is support for the DLC (if you choose to purchase it), as well as some tweaks to the One Man Army perk, some matchmaking updates that will help our international users find more locally hosted games thanks to how ping is now sorted, and various other code updates that will help improve the overall quality of multiplayer on Modern Warfare 2."

Sharkey says: Should be a crazy rest of the week in Modern Warfare 2. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 pulled a sizable number of players from CoD servers, but it's highly likely they'll be coming back to try the new maps. See you online.
