The boys of Grand Theft Auto are chumps compared to Rico Rodriguez, the hero of Just Cause from Avalanche Studios. Rico's job is to overthrow the corrupt government of a South American island called San Esperito. This undercover CIA agent can jack helicopters in mid-flight or just hang on for a free ride with his grapple, and pull off the sorts of death-defying stunts that would make Carl Johnson wet himself.
While Just Cause isn't due out until September 26, you can get a taste of it now thanks to a free demo on Xbox Live. The 632MB download will give you a small sample of this free-roaming action title by placing you on an island a fraction of the size of the landmass you'll get to explore in the full game. According to Eidos, the island of San Esperito will be 1,225 square miles in size, complete with beaches, jungles, mountains, small villages and large cities. Just show us the way to the local cantina and we'll be happy campers.
