The sequel gets a 30-strong headcount infusion.
Gamasutra is
reporting that
BioWare will bolster
Mass Effect 2's team by 30 heads. The added staff, which consists of artists, animators, designers, and "other positions," according to the story, will work out of EA's Montreal facility rather than BioWare's Edmonton offices. Gamasutra spoke with Ray Muzyka, BioWare's co-founder, who mentioned that the staff working out of EA Montreal would
not be working on
Dragon Age,
The Old Republic, nor any of the unannounced "cool future stuff" the developer has in the works.
Miguel says: It's good to know someone is hiring in spite of the worldwide rash of disappearing capital. A commenter on the original Gamasutra story named Christopher Broom brings up an interesting point. He suspects that the motivation to hire in Montreal as opposed to Edmonton might have something to do with a "...larger pool of talent to work with / hire in." He observes that, though he thought
Mass Effect was good, "some the [sic] of the outlying content was severely lacking. Example[s] are the various planets you could explore."
I fully agree. What do you think?
