Curing mapathy is nice. Paying $15 to do it isn't. Ubisoft announced today its own cure for those same-old-game blues, and the best part is, it's free. Starting tomorrow and continuing every Thursday, Splinter Cell: Conviction will receive DLC goodies, gratis.

In a brief statement, Ubisoft said a "ton of free content" is heading Sam Fisher's way. New weapons, skins, and even a new map will be released each week. To kick things off, the MP7A1 Machine Pistol will be available for download tomorrow.

Conviction owners must have an Internet connection and an Xbox 360 gamertag to download the new content, which will be found in the Extras section of the game's main menu every Thursday.

Sharkey says: Nice. It wasn't the smoothest of launches for the long-in-development Conviction, but Sam Fisher's newest adventure has received critical praise and Ubisoft's DLC strategy is certainly a welcome addition.
