THQ and Relic reveals its new action RPG for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
THQ has announced a new action RPG called
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine for both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Developed by in-house outfit
Relic Entertainment the game will see players control a lone Space Marine with the action being served up in a third-person fashion. The game is still in early development, but Relic has said that the gameplay will be heavy on the action and light on the RPG elements.
IGN has a first impressions piece on
Space Marine:
Utilizing a proprietary engine and being built by a new console-focused team, Relic is busy putting together Space Marine, a third-person action-RPG. After seeing some early footage, it looks as though it's going to be as bloody as Warhammer 40K fans might expect, filled with large-scale battles, brutal weaponry, and frantic fighting.
So far, enemies that have been revealed in an early trailer include the green-skinned Orks and the evil chitinous Tyranids.
Bryn says: Now this is a refreshing change. Relic has a very firm handle on the Warhammer 40K license -- being responsible for the excellent Dawn of War RTS series on the PC -- so the chances of Space Marine being a great addition to Games Workshops' mythos are good.
I've always been more of a Warhammer Fantasy Battle person, but this 40K entry could well shape up to change that.
