Start saving your quarters, Konami and Marvel Entertainment have announced that X-Men Arcade, the 1992 cabinet classic, is getting an HD re-release on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live.

Developed by Backbone Entertainment, the studio behind the PSN and Live version of Marvel vs. Capcom 2, X-Men Arcade will play just like the Magneto-hunting original and feature up to four player local co-op play and up to six players online.

"Just like with our comics, Marvel has a rich history of great video games, and we're happy to play our part with Konami in reintroducing this classic to fans of all ages," Marvel spokesperson Seth Lehman said in a statement. "Fans have been clamoring for X-Men Arcade to hit consoles for 18 years now, and we're confident they'll definitely find this re-release was worth the wait."

For those of you who missed it in the arcade, here's a rundown from Konami:
In X-Men Arcade, Cyclops, Colossus, Dazzler, Nightcrawler, Storm and Wolverine unite to use their special powers to save mankind from the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants and other terrible threats. Players are charged with fighting off hundreds of Sentinels -- along with Super Villains such as Pyro, the Blob, Wendigo, Nimrod, the White Queen, Juggernaut and Mystique -- as they battle their way to Island M to take down the Master of Magnetism, Magneto, and save Kitty Pryde and Professor Xavier.
No pricing or release date was announced, but Konami and Marvel said X-Men Arcade should be available for download sometime this year.

Sharkey says: I call Wolverine! I dumped a ton of quarters into this one at the arcade. Looking forward to a little trip down nostalgia lane when this one launches.
