Example: you come around a corner and blow apart a nest of enemy soldiers, capturing a control point. (As long as you hold this point, you can respawn there if your main character dies.) Now the enemy counter-attacks, so you spend your action points to call in reinforcements in the form of a couple heavy machine guns. You position ghost images of the machine guns you want to create and then press a button. Presto! A few seconds later, a plane flies overhead, dropping your guns and soldiers to man them. They'll defend the area for you... or you can step in to man the machine guns yourself.

Need something bigger? You can requisition anything if you have the action points. Including full-on tanks: just make the call and a Sherman will parachute into the midst of the battlefield for your convenience, along with a crew. Tanks have multiple spaces to occupy, including gunners and drivers, and you can hop into any position to bring the hurt to the enemy. Tons of hurt! Tanks can drive over sandbag bunkers, scattering the cover, or they can simply smoosh enemy soldiers. Clip the corner of a building and your tank will take out part of the wall. Hell, drive into a building - they'll never see it coming.

Driving (or hijacking) tanks, jeeps, or even civilian trucks and cars is just the beginning. You can capture and use artillery or even hijack a train.

If it's in your way, you can blow it up.

The Outfit has a lot of character, thanks in part to the level of detail the Xbox 360 can crank out. The major characters you play are voiced by recognizable celebs, such as Robert Patrick from T2 or Ron Perlman from Hellboy. The characters are larger than life and you can see the detail as you get up close and personal: mirrored sunglasses that actually reflect, a leather jacket both shiny and cracked with wear, a lit cigar clenched in the teeth with a glowing red ember and a thin stream of smoke. It's a great looking title.

Although multiplayer gameplay wasn't on display at the show, it's in the works through Xbox Live for up to eight players. Co-op and versus modes will be available in both split-screen or networked multiplayer. Relic is also planning to crank out downloadable content for networked Xbox 360 fans, including downloadable skins, tattoos, vehicle paint jobs, and more.

The Outfit looks to be a great blend of arcade-like action with gritty World War II environments. It's a great console title to work as a counterpoint to Relic's eagerly anticipated (and much more serious) Company of Heroes strategy game for the PC. The Outfit won't be an Xbox 360 launch title, but it's expected as early as March of next year.
